Ministerial Advisory Board for the Ministry of Health has been inaugurated to Champion Primary Health Care access to All.

Speaking at the ceremony held on Accra on Wednesday, Minister for Health, Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh who doubles as the Board Chairman of the Board revealed that their objective is to ensure quality, affordable and equity health care for all which he said is at the centre of government’s vision for inclusive goal and social justice.

“Your role as members of the Board is to advise, guide and support the Ministry in refining policies, setting priorities and monitoring progress”, the Health Minister emphasized.
He said this marks a transformative moment in the Health sector, anchored by renewed hope and clear direction under the leadership of President Mahama.

The Board Chairman and Juaboso Member of Parliament also added that government ‘s health vision is expanding health access and improving quality and ensuring financial protection for every Ghanaian.

He emphasized that one of the flagship initiatives guiding the vision is free primary health care policy which he said is designed as a bold step towards universal health coverage and Mahama Care programme.

“Through Mahama care, we aim to strengthen tertiary l, and Regional health referral systems, invest in specialized training and specialized advanced medical services so that every region benefits from quality specialist intervention”, Hon Akandoh assured.
He explained further that the Ghana Medical Trust Fund focuses on treatment of Non-communicable diseases and provide sustainable financing modules for specialized care delivery.

The Health Minister later called for team work, harmony and shared care values maintaining that the challenges at the health sector which include health workforce shortages, infrastructure gaps and emerging disease burden require a co-ordinated and forward-looking solutions.
“The successes of this Board will occur not only on the brilliance of its members but on the ability to work together with mutual respect objectivity and unity of purpose”, he advised.

Hon. Akandoh expressed his gratitude to members of the Board and Justice Sedinam Awo Kwadam who swore the members in.
The Board Members include Minister for Trade, Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu Agyare, Dr. Titus Beyuo, Prof. Fred Binka, Chief Directors of Ministries of Finance and Health, among others.
