She emphasized that the Blue Economy 6-pillars thus, blue wealth, blue health, blue knowledge, blue finance, blue equity and blue safety will provide direction for the next 3 days “but we must translate those pillars into practical sequenced and costed actions”.

“We must ask the right questions. The questions we ask must be the backbone of credible implementation plan”, Hon. Arthur added.
The Shama Member of Parliament therefore entreated all Participants, drawn from Ministries, Agencies, coastal communities, inland water communities, research institutions and field experts to step outside their traditional boundaries, think and act differently towards a successful implementation plan.

“Let us not act as isolated sectors but an integrated national blue economy team
Our oceans and water bodies do not separate fisheries from transport or environment from tourism, neither should our planning”, the Minister urged.

Hon. Arthur who urged the Participants to also focus on an architecture platform for the Blue Economy Commission which encapsulates office, office staff and appointment of Executive Director and a Board, later expressed appreciation to AU IBAR for the support for the National Stakeholders Workshop.

Dignitaries at the opening ceremony such as the Blue Economy Advisor, Directorate of Sustainable Environment and Blue Economy AUC, Ms Linda Amornghor -Oje Etta Snr, and Norway Ambassador to Ghana H.E Dr. John Mikal Kvistad pledged their support towards support the successful implementation of Ghana’s Blue Economy Strategy.
