The Acting CEO of Forestry Commission, Dr. Hugh Brown has refuted widespread assertions that he has granted 107 timber concession permits under the Timber Utilization Contract (TUC).
Speaking in an exclusive interview with the Exposé Newspaper, the Forestry Commission boss explained that the permits were granted in 2024 at the time he was not the CEO.
He emphasized therefore that it can not be true that he has granted such permits after assuming office as CEO.
It would be recalled that the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources issued a directive suspending and revoking all Timber Utilization Contracts (TUCs) within Globally Significant Biodiversity Areas (GSBAs) across the country.
Publications of the Ministers’ directive sought to create the impression as though the Forestry Commission boss granted those permits.
But Dr. Brown insists that he is well in tune with President Mahama’s reset agenda at the Forestry Commission hence it can not be said that he is granting permit to Sympathizers of the NPP.
He later expressed his commitment to work in fulfillment of President Mahama’s better Ghana agenda describing all allegations against him as unfounded.
