Governor of Bank of Ghana (BoG),Dr. Johnson Pandit Asiama has acknowledged the media’s role to the good policies of the Bank stressing that the media remains the Central Bank’s priority fof financial stability.

He however called on the media to ensure balanced and accuracy at all times in their reportage maintaining that incomplete or poorly contextualized reporting can unintentionally heightened uncertainties or undermine confidence with real consequences for household and businesses.
“Our expectations as consequences not compliance but responsibility, accuracy balanced and context
Our commitment in return is openness, engagement and respect for the media’s constitutional role . That balance my friends is essential and it is essential for financial stability ”, Rr. Asiama emphasized.
Touching on the fiscal policies of the Central Bank, the Governor explained that their decision is data driven devoid of pressure, speculation and sentiments.
He said the Bank responds to risks and medium term outlook for price and financial stability.
“Our focus has been on policies that can be sustained even when they are uncomfortable in short term”, he said.
Dr. Asiama also stressed that the Bank’s decision is collective that requires disciplined work adding that decisions are taken through established framework informed by analysis and debates.
“…And yes we do have lots of debates in house as well as professional judgement”
These principles the Governor said guided “our actions on 2024 and these same principles will continue to guide in 2026”.
The Governor later assured the media of a more enhanced media relationship that is mutually beneficial to the two entities.
