The Chief Executive of Ghana Grid Company(GridCo), Ing Mark Baah has stated that the Ghana/Cote dIvoire Inter-connectivity Project will enhance regional power generation and electricity trade in the sub-region.
He added that electricity trade between the two countries will be strengthened if the project is implemented.

Ing. Baah was speaking at a 3-Day Inter connection Reinforcement Project Meeting in Accra on Wednesday.
“The project is regarded as a priority project in the ECOWAS master plan for the development of regional power generation and transmission infrastructure 2019-2033 adopted by ECOWAS Authority of Heads and Government on December 22, 2018”, he emphasized.
The GridCo CEO however explained that the study of the regional Master Plan showed that with the implementation of the regional electricity market which is expected to strengthen electricity trade between countries in the West Africa sub region, the capacity of the existing interconnection will Constitute a bottle neck for trade.

In that regard, Ing Baah revealed that pre-investment studies was conducted, which results included the Construction of 121 km 330 kV double circuit transmission line from Dunkwa to Ghana/Cote d’Ivoire Border (Elubo)
• Construction of 75km of 330kV Single Circuit transmission line from Dunkwa to Awodua
• Construction of 330/161kV Substation at Dunkwa
• Implementation of relevant Environmental Mitigation Measures and Resettlement Action Plan for the Project.
He revealed that Cote d’Ivoire component of the Project includes the following:
• Construction of 125 km 330 kV double circuit transmission line from Ghana/Cote d’Ivoire Border (Elubo) to Bingerville
Implementation of relevant Environmental Mitigation Measures and Resettlement Action Plan
“The objective of the ministerial meeting is to submit to Ministers the outcome of the project pre-investment studies including the legal document for the deployment of institutional frameworks

Chief Director of Ministry of Energy and Green Transition, Mr. Solomon Adjetey Sowah
On his part the Chief Director of Ministry of Energy and Green Transition, Mr. Solomon Adjetey Sowah noted that beyond the technical validation, the Ministry is here to formalize its commitment through the signing of legal instruments that will establish a robust framework for cooperation.
This framework, he said will not only facilitate the implementation of the project but also ensure that our collaboration is grounded in mutual trust, transparency, and shared responsibility.

Secretary General of West African Power Pool (WAPP) Abdoulaye Dia
“As the host institution, I wish to reaffirm the full availability and commitment of the Hon. Minister to actively support the functioning of this cooperation framework. We are ready to contribute our expertise, resources, and institutional support to ensure the timely and successful execution of this project”, Mr. Sowah emphasized.
Later Secretary General of West African Power Pool (WAPP) Abdoulaye Dia and Director General of CI Energies Mr. Sidibe Kossi respectively took turns to commit to the project.
