Ministerial Advisory Board for Ministry of Defence was on Monday (December 29, 2025) inaugurated to support the Ministry deliver on its mandate.
The nine member Advisory board which includes Finance Minister Dr. Casiel Ato Forson who doubles as acting Minister for Defence, Deputy Defence Minister Mr. Brogya Gyamfi were sworn in at a short ceremony held at the Ministry.

In an address, Hon. Forson emphasized that the Ministry’s work is to supervise the work of Ghana Armed Forces to ensure territorial integrity adding that the Board’s mandate is to compliment the work of the Ministry.
He said territorial integrity is very critical to President Mahama as the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, hence the need for the Board.

According to him the first Board meeting is expected to take place in the second week of 2026 to deliberate on issues relating to the Ministry.

He later urged members of the Advisory Board, drawn from various relevant institutions to serve with diligence and commitment in order to realize the objective of the Board.

Other members of the Board were drawn from public/private sectors, veterans, Academia and civil society who would ensure holistic, effective defence policy, strategic advice, and accountability.
