The Parish Priest of St. Theresa Catholic Church, Kaneshie, Rev. Father Francis Destiny Amenuvor has described the mammoth walk organized by the Church to Commemorate its 60th anniversary as “a symbol of our faith in Action”.

He explained that the health walk was not just about physical fitness but also about spreading the gospel and strengthening fellowship among members.

“This walk is a symbol of our faith in action. We are not only caring for our bodies, which are temples of the Holy Spirit, but also reaching out to others with the message of Christ. It is our hope that through this, more people will be inspired to draw closer to God,” Rev. Amenuvor stressed.

He bemoaned the rampant abuse of drugs by the youth and advised them to eschew drug abuse and embrace a positive lifestyle that leads to a brighter future.

“Drugs and other vices are destroying many young lives. I want to encourage the youth to focus on productive activities, seek knowledge, and take advantage of job opportunities to build a meaningful future for themselves,” he urged.

Touching on education, Rev. Amenuvor described the taking over of the Catholic schools by the government disaster as the schools have lost their culture and religious values, and the church is ready to take them back.

It would be recalled that on Tuesday April 1, 2025,
the St. Theresa Catholic Church kicked off its 60th anniversary celebrations with an Evangelistic Health Walk, an event designed to combine physical well-being with spiritual outreach.

The walk, which saw enthusiastic participation from church members and community residents, was aimed at promoting faith, unity, and a healthy lifestyle.

The participants, clad in customized T-shirts of the Church and holding placards adorned with Bible verses, moved through the principal streets of Kaneshie.

They shared messages of hope, faith, and love with passer-by while emphasizing the importance of maintaining good health.

The initiative forms part of a series of activities lined up for the church’s diamond jubilee celebration, which seeks to deepen spirituality, encourage community engagement, and promote holistic well-being among members.

The event concluded with prayers, songs of praise, and words of encouragement from church leaders. As St. Theresa Catholic Church continues its 60th-anniversary celebrations, members remain committed to fostering both spiritual and physical well-being within the community.
